I Don’t Think Whiz Comics Would Go Over as Well Today

February 1976

Claw The Unconquered #5

Comics! And lots of them! But rather than subscriptions, here we’ve got reprints and collections of some of the biggest, most influential characters of all time!

I would certainly pick up most of these if I found them in the quarter bin… except for the Bible one, that is… unless it had some fantastic ads!

Na-Na Na-Na Na-Na Na SUBSCRIPTION!

Claw The Unconquered #5

I have a new buddy who’s a huge fan of Batman, so in honor of this new friendship, here’s the ad with Batman most prominently featured (out of all the ones I have scanned, anyway). Surprisingly, this seems to be Robin’s first appearance in my blog, so let’s give a big Comic Book Ads welcome to Robin!

“HI, ROBIN!!!”

Something I find interesting about this is that you get $3.00 worth of comics, but it doesn’t actually specify how many issues that equals. I’m assuming it would be a year’s worth, but just think it’s odd that they don’t mention it.

A Super-Special Holiday Treat!

February 1976

Claw The Unconquered #5

It’s Christmas (well, almost, anyway)! And what better way to celebrate than with comics? Here we’ve got limited collectors’ editions of “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Christmas with the Super-Heroes!”

Not only do you get stories, but you also get greeting cards, puzzles, a sing along, a special fun section, and a diorama! That sounds like a whole lot of holiday fun for such a low, low price!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

DeCk the Halls!

Wonder Woman #37

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and you know what the means – presents! If you still haven’t gotten a gift for that special someone, don’t worry – DC’s got you covered!

Yep, with all these titles to choose from, you’re sure to find something for anybody (well, almost anybody) on this list!

Happy Holidays!

Do They Have a Feud With West Coast Comics?

December 1989

Wonder Woman #37

I think this post wins for number of tags! Yep, you could buy just about any title from East Coast Comics, from Akira to X-Terminators!

What I wouldn’t give for prices like those on some of these titles today!

The Oh-So-Classy Classifieds

December 1989

Wonder Woman #37

Classifieds provide a smorgasbord  of cheesiness – they’re the cheapest advertising that money can buy in comics, meaning that they’re usually the lowest quality… which also means they can sometimes be the most entertaining!

I think my favorite on here is the “Live Chameleon FREE!” ad (of course, the lizard is only free if you buy a six-month supply of food). Though the “!!GET ALL THE GIRLS!!  !!BECOME RICH & POPULAR!!  * ONLY $3.95 *” is pretty great – for only $3.95, how could you afford not to order??
