And I’m Sure He Was Never Heard From Again…

February 1995

X-Force #43

I have a passing familiarity with X-Men and some of their storylines, but am far from an expert. However, according to this ad, apparently Professor X died in 1994/’95!

Considering that this store is holding a memorial service, it seems like it was a pretty big deal at the time, but did anyone really think he was gone for good? Comic book deaths are so fleeting, especially for main characters – I’m always at least a little suspicious when someone “dies” in a comic.

This Con Is Super, Thanks for Asking!

Claw The Unconquered #5

OK, I know that I should have an ad from the ’80s this week, but I just finished the ads I’d been posting from G.I. Joe, and now I can’t get my scanner to work, so we’re stuck with ’60s and ’70s for the time being.

Anyway – It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Super DC Convention! Lots of great stuff, with no real specifics – they don’t name a single guest or panel that will be there – hardly adequate by today’s con standards! 😉

I think it’s interesting that they mention Superman’s birthday – he was created in 1938, which means that in 1976 he would’ve been 38 years old – not exactly a notable milestone.

The Creation of Creation Cons

G.I. Joe #33

Considering how huge and insane comic conventions have become in the last decade or so, sometimes it’s hard to imagine that they haven’t always been gigantic media spectacles. This simple list of upcoming events from Creation almost seems quaint.

I wish they had prices listed – I’d love to be able to compare it to today’s tickets!
